The pirangueira is a small tree native to the Amazon rainforest found mainly on beaches and shores of rivers and streams.
Give her pink flowers and always visited by bees and ants.
Its fruits are small and rounded and are left with orange peel when ripe. The pulp is whitish-transparent and sweet. Each fruit has four seeds.
The piranga or camutim can be used as bait for some fish. They are edible and very appreciated by children in the north.
