The Amazon carcara is a falcon who lives in pairs or small groups.
It is omnivorous bird that eats almost everything from carrion, insects, fish, amphibians, seeds or even garbage. It is opportunistic: it can plunder the nests of other birds and also attack young sheep and goats.
They live on average 15 years, reaching sexual maturity at three.
The female lays four to five eggs per clutch, and has the assistance of the male during brooding, and in caring for newborns.
This animal spends much time on the ground, aided by their long legs adapted to running, but is also an excellent flying and glider.
