The sword mango is produced by large and leafy trees, which can reach over 40 feet tall and have a cup with a radius greater than 10 meters.
Its leaves are bright green, but when these young leaves are green-leaf.
Its flowers are fragrant and arranged in panicles at the ends of the branches inserted.
The sleeve of the sword is a drupe fruit, elongated and flattened the side, which may be ripe yellow, orange or red, more reddish on the side that gets sun directly. When the fruit is not yet mature, their color is green. The pulp is juicy, tasty, sweet, fibrous, with a large seed in the center.
Its seeds germinate easily, and because of that, although the plant is native to Asia, it has spread much the backyards of the north, often competing directly with native vegetation in the Amazon region.
The sword mango in the Amazon is usually consumed raw, in juice or candy.
